RUNNING A RACE
How do you run your race? One of the first steps in running any race, is to discover what kind of race are you running right now. Are you existing in life? Or, living your life?
Existing in life, means you are:
- Doing what is required of you. Going to work, coming home, doing chores and dealing with everyday family matters and weekly household concerns.
- Giving your opinion when it is not requested. Opinionated about other people’s lives. You are always attending to your friends, family and adult children’s lives, telling them what they should be doing, because you don’t have a life of your own.
- Critical of others who take chances. Always ready to find fault or voice negativity because of your fear and shortcomings.
- Clueless about your purpose is in life. You claim, you want to know, but refuse to exert the effort to find out what it is.
- Living through other people’s lives. Sometimes, not only the rich and famous, but the people who take life on and enjoy it.
- You are full of fear, bitterness and anger. You took a chance years ago and it did not work. You remain in a comfort zone, unwilling to change or take another chance.
- Not a true believer of God. For you, God exists only on Sunday, in a 5-minute daily devotional or during prayers of distress. While others may believe that God has no interest in their lives.
Living life, means you:
- Are true believer in God. He exists every day, not only during Sunday services, or weekly Bible studies. You trust Him and no matter what occurs, you are confident He will be there for you. You confer with Him for every matter in your life
- Allow yourself to be a teacher in life. Offering advice when asked. Empathetic to others. Not being critical, overbearing or judgmental, but, remember situations when you were young, or times you made mistakes.
- You are a role model to others. People look up to you for your accomplishments and achievements. Often, seeking your advice on various matters.
- Take vacations. You go to faraway places. You explore and enhance your cultural awareness.
- Keep a positive outlook. You treasure your commodity of peace and keep it. You hold on to your integrity. You stay away from drama, gossip and other types of negativity.
- You take chances. You are willing to go out do something that could succeed or fail. You are willing to try. And you encourage others to accomplish their dreams.
- Fulfilling your purpose. Through the guidance of God, you have discovered your calling. And now you are fulfilling that calling.
How do you get started running your life race?
You must decide to run. It is your choice. No one is forcing you to make this decision. Like any type of race, you must want to be in the race, and you must want to finish the race. Any life decision you make will begin and end with a good mindset. You must want to change the way you think.
Simple tips in running a race:
- Get a coach. For most races, a person will get a mentor, trainer or coach. God is the Ultimate Coach to have. He will teach and train you on things you don’t know. He will be your private tutor, when no one is around.
- Research the type of race you want to accomplish. For any race, you will investigate how long it will take. When is the race? Who will be participating in the race? Why the race is run. Where is the race? The same goes for your life race. Research your race. Get all the information that is needed for your race.
- Training begins. For a race, you must build your lung capacity and tone your muscles are only the start. In your life, you must build your faith. Extend your patience. Endure the time, money and effort. Eliminate your anxiety and fear. Perseverance is put to the test.
- The race is here. Run toward your goals, jump over obstacles, sprint pass negativity and run to your chosen destination.
You crossed the finish line. You completed your race. Victory is yours.
