The Superhero Code of Conduct

What is your code of conduct? If you have viewed the superheroes on the big screen, or read about them, in the comics, most of them follow the same codes of conduct. You have never actually witnessed them declaring these sets of rules to anyone; being sworn in by an official leader; or vowing to uphold these decrees, yet they did them.

Today, codes of conduct have not been taught or are not being followed. Many people have followed their own rules according their circumstances and feelings. The troubles and stresses of the world have pushed positive codes aside and have replaced them, with negative ones. When negative codes of conduct continue, and the younger generation begins to adapt to them, society begins to break down.

Below are God’s codes of conduct, for His superheroes.

Submit to authority. No one wants to submit to anyone’s authority. Children are against parents; employees rally against their superiors, and people argue with police officers. The results are rebellious children, unemployed individuals and people going to jail or worse.

There will always be people in charge over your life, and you must begin to deal with authority appropriately. Of course, there are instances when you don’t agree, or the person in charge is wrong or has a bad attitude. You may dislike their ways or tactics, but a certain amount of respect may be needed. My solution is God. Recognize God is ultimately in charge. Pray about ways to submit to the person in authority, in the correct manner. Gossiping, backbiting, arguing and feuding with the person can get you fired, arrested or worse.

Remember, your children, coworkers, friends, family members are watching you. When they see you behave in an incorrect manner, they may mimic your behaviors. If you want to be a superhero, you must be a role model.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Romans 13:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

Be strong and courageous. Today, there are people who are fearful of change, failure, success, living and dying. There is a fear about everything. Fear is an emotion that should be used to alert or warn of danger. It is good to fear, to an extent. When fear becomes crippling or paralyzes, that’s a problem. People have a way of covering fear, with anger, indifference or other emotions. A person may have a fear of traveling, so they criticize those who do travel. Or, a spouse may fear their mate is leaving so they become angry to mask their fear. A person may have a fear of failure, so they never want to try new things, they become complacent.

God never wanted us to live in fear. He tells us He will be with us, no matter where we are, where we are going, what we went through; or what we are going through. Identify your fear, ask for courage and be brave. Superheroes have no fear, they have their superpowers.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9New King James Version (NKJV)

Be a Peacemaker. Stress, worry, anxiety, overtaxed and being overwhelmed robs you of peace, and may be the gateway to illnesses and disorders. Being stressed, all the time, damages your body and your way of thinking. Pray for God’s peace, not the world’s peace. Once you make a pact with peace, you will walk in peace. Keep the peace. Guard the peace, for you and others, resulting in becoming a peacemaker.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9New King James Version (NKJV)

Do the right thing.  This term has converted to Do My Thing. To do what you want to do, when you want, whatever makes you feel good, not caring if someone else gets hurt. Dishonesty, lying, stealing are wrong on the larger scales, people do not recognize things on a smaller scales. Fibbing the figures, on your income tax; telling a lie not to go to work, receiving too much change from a clerk and keeping it, excessive texting at work, stops only when the supervisor approaches, are all wrong.

Learn to do the right thing when no one is watching. Learn to be honest, trustworthy and fair. Do what God commands you to do, not what you think that is right. People have done wrong for so long, they don’t know how to be right. Get close to God and learn what is right in His eyes.

18 because you have listened to the voice of the Lord your God, to keep all His commandments which I command you today, to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 13:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

Protect the helpless. For one reason or another, some people have turned a blind eye to the poor, needy and helpless. They are people in the world who wants handouts, unwilling to work. But, there are people who need help. I suggest asking God, whom you should help, because there are fake charities, scams and deceitful programs. If you are led to help, do it. Sometimes the ones who need help are not in foreign third world countries. They are next door, down the street, in your community. Defend people who are spiritually, emotionally, physically injured. Assist those who are weak and defenseless, after you have received guidance from our Almighty Father Who knows and sees all. There are people who refuses to help because they are selfish, everything is about them. Don’t be that person.

Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82:3-4New King James Version (NKJV)

Don’t be judgmental. Learn discernment. Be just. Be fair. Know the difference between right and wrong. Learn to listen to both sides before forming an opinion. We are quick to jump to conclusions or take sides, depending on how we feel. We cannot allow our feelings to govern good judgement.

Stop being overly critical, and highly opinionated with people. Stop measuring people according to how you think and behave. Who said your point of view is the only point of view? Because in the same way you judge people, other people judges you. Judge not and you will not be judged.

“Then I commanded your judges at that time, saying, ‘Hear the cases between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the stranger who is with him. Deuteronomy 1:16-17New King James Version (NKJV)

Help those who need to be helped. However, do not be influenced by certain classes, or positions of people, helping only the rich, famous and well known. Do not help people for a reward or for something in return. Keep in mind, those whom you help, may not be able to pay you back. Make sure you get advice from God who to help.

17 You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.’

Are you following God’s codes of conduct, for the superheroes. If not, why not?
