Choices, Costs, Consequences, for the Next Stage
Is my life over? Days of youth are behind. Middle age has ended. Now, your is vision slightly impaired.; joints creak and your memory is not as sharp. Everyone ages, but there is a way to age with grace. Choose wisely in your latter years, if not the cost is high, and consequences are will be impaired, creaky and sharp.
You can remember the day when you were young and vibrant, now your way of thinking has changed. You realize:
If your way of thinking has not evolved, with your age. Or, if you remain in the stage of thinking and acting like a youth. Or, if you have given up and waiting for the end to come. You need P.L.A.T.I.U.M. Pray. Learn. Age. Teach. Pray. Initiate. Understand. Memories.
P- Pray (intimate conversation) to the unaged God. He will teach you how to stay young, as you grow older. If there was ever a fountain of youth, reading the Word and listening to God’s directions will assist you in staying young.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth: Job 33:25 King James Version (KJV)
L–Learn how not to become old. Stop saying statements like I’m old. I had a senior moment. I’m too old to learn that. You will become what you speak into existence. If you think old and act old, you will become old.
A- Age with grace. Age is a number, do not allow it to define you. Don’t allow the world to label you or place you in a certain age category. Oftentimes, the minute someone hears your age they will want to group you together with their definition of that age. Don’t allow others to do that. Don’t do it yourself. All 60 and 70-year old’s are not the same. Don’t allow the world to classify you.
T-Teach new generations. You have lived and experienced life, this is an opportunity to teach it to your children and your children’s children. This new generation is a stubborn generation. Your parents probably thought the same thing about you. You will need God to assist you in teaching this generation, but it is your job. If you attempt to do it with force and anger, they will rebel. If you do it with grace and understanding you have a much better chance.
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: Psalm 78:6-7 (KJV)
I-Initiate a plan for the latter part of your life. Join a membership at a gym, not only can you take classes to stay in shape, you can find other people of your age to form new friendships. Eat healthier, explore vegetarian, vegan or other type meals designed to keep you healthy. Hang out with lively energetic people who wants to stay young. Go to brunches, lunches and other events to get you out of the house. Join book clubs or other activities to keep your mind sharp.
U- Understand life is not ending, it is only a new chapter to live. If that is too small, start a new book. Your children are grown., You are free to do some of the things you could not do in your earlier years. Remember it is never too late. Be the example to your children to prove age is only a number.
M–Memories of yesteryear are good. It is bad when you can only think of happy events that occurred 10 or 20 years ago. Those memories are special and should be cherished. Create fresh memories. Go on exotic vacation or attend special events, do things so your old memories will accompany your new ones.
Everyone makes bad choices; the key is to learn from that mistake and avoid making that same choice again. Making good choices is a must in all stages of life. Make good choices.
