NOT WHO, BUT WHAT IS GOD?

What God is not? He is not a fictitious character, like Santa Claus, issuing presents when you are good. He is not an executioner, sentencing you to hell, when you are bad. He is not an old man with a long white beard, ambulating with a walking stick. And, God is not the author of all bad things that happens in the world.

God is not a man. And, He does not performs things as humans. He does not repent. Granted, God grieves about certain situations. However, God knew everything that would happen, before it happened. So, He does not regret what He created. God knows the finale. We don’t. Sometimes, we attempt to fill in the blanks, on the things we don’t understand. But, all things God created will work out in the end. The things God has spoken will truly come to pass. Why? God does not lie.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 King James Version (KJV)

So, what is God? God is a Spirit. He is a supernatural being. A spiritual force that provides life, energy and power. He is the essence, the basic quality of all living things. When we pray to God, and a vision of a man; a portrait; or any type of image comes to your mind, this is not God. Knowing this revelation, we must begin to worship God in truth and understanding.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 King James Version (KJV)

With God, there is liberty, a sense of being free from all of the stresses and distresses of the world, just by knowing He is there. His presence is everywhere, and at any time. There are no restrictions; a specific place to go; a particular time; or in a certain matter to seek God. God is always available.

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

God is the beginning and the end. God was here, before the creation. And, will remain to the very end. He is the starting point and the finale. That should be the concept taken in life, to start all things with God and end with God.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Revelation 22:13 King James Version (KJV)

Last, but surely not least. The quality we forget or overlook. The main characteristic that cannot be measured on the level it should be calculated. God is love. Many people will nod their heads and recognize the phrase has been head before. The problem is, the love we know is influenced by television; marred by magazines; how we see others behaving; dictated by other people; or, how we think it should be. The truth is, the measurement of God’s love is unmeasurable. To truly recognize the concept that God is love, it must be obtained from having a relationship with God and reading and studying His Word.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 King James Version (KJV)

The addiction to comfort and convenience plays a significant role. People want what they want. And, want it, now. When someone prays to God for something and it does not come to pass or materialize in a limited time, rejection, sadness or anger occurs. People will begin to think God is not listening; He is anger with them; or He does not love them. It is funny; people will quickly identify when they don’t get what they want and discredit God, and rarely give full credit to God when they do receive what they requested.

To fully grasp the love God has for you, ask Him in pray. Go to His Book, the Bible and read His Word. Again, the influences of others, or the situations you may be presently in, you may reject this advice. That is a mistake. You will continue life, never fully embracing yourself in the love God is and has for you. Remember, God’s ways and thoughts are so much higher than yours and that is why you cannot fathom His reasoning on certain things in life.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 King James Version (KJV)

When you say, I love God, you cannot imagine how much He loves you.
