SELF-RESOLUTIONS

Is it time for a tune up? A tune-up is a service to inspect your vehicle to evaluate what needs to be cleaned, replaced or fixed, to ensure your vehicle can perform smoothly, and for a longer period. How often a tune-up should be performed can be calculated, by a certain number of miles or by months, depending on the age of the vehicle. Ignoring the practice of getting a tune-up can cause stress on your vehicle resulting in damage. Some tune-ups are routine, while others are more detailed.
Is it time for a self- tune up? Do you need to evaluate what needs to be cleaned, replaced or fixed? Let’s evaluate.
Lack of energy. You always feel tired and drained. Always thinking about taking a nap or going to bed. Do you lack, stamina?
Minimal Motivation. You have no drive to initiate things that can better your life. If you start them, you have little impulse to complete them. You find yourself only moving when some type of affliction or negative consequence emerges.
Laziness and procrastination. Do you find yourself searching for the smallest excuse not to do something? Or, find yourself putting things off until tomorrow, next week or next year?
Binge Watching is your primary hobby. You stay up late and spend most of your weekends and holidays watching episodes after episodes of various television series. The actors and characters on these programs are ingrained in your life and you speak about them as if they are your friends and family. You tend to think more about these characters’ lives than you do about people in your life?
Lack of a hobby. On weekends and holidays and all you do is sleep, watch tv and play video games? Do you attempt to explore other things that can stimulate your mind?
Addicted to social media. Daily, you post pictures and stories and you crave the accolades and the “likes” you receive. If you don’t receive a certain amount of likes or comments, you are hurt, disappointed or angry? Or, do you spend hours, just scrolling and patrolling Facebook and reposting articles?
Let’s investigate other options that can ensure that your life can perform smoothly, and for a longer period. Suggestions for a self- tune up.
Energy Booster. Most people know they need to eat better, drink more water and perform some type of exercise. However, many will l not do it. Poor diet, dehydration (lack of water of water) and being a couch potato can cause a lack of energy. Eat better. Daily, drink 6-8 glasses of water. Incorporate some type of exercise into your daily routine. Exercise can be something simple as walking. These factors may increase your energy level.
Motivating Motivation. This trait can be contributed by the company that you keep. If you are around people who lack drive with no incentive, this may rub off on you. Meet new people. Try to befriend people outside your normal circle. Talk to people who are doing and achieving things, in their lives. Maybe their good behaviors may encourage you to be better.
Hop on a Hobby. Do you know some people’s hobbies turn into money making ventures? Find something that stimulates your mind? Find something you enjoy doing. Start small. Do not start a hobby that will cause hundreds of dollars to start (unless you can afford it), only to find out you really don’t like it. Go online to find some suggestions.
Social Media withdrawal. Social media is here to stay. There is nothing wrong with scrolling on FB, Instagram or Twitter. There should be a balance. Decide that you will explore social media for a set time. Then, start that hobby. Invest time into something of your own versus someone’s else life, articles and pictures.
Binge Watching. There is nothing wrong with decompressing with a good television series or a great movie. Again, having a balance comes into play. Instead of watching 8 episodes of a tv series, maybe watch 3 episodes. If you have children, make a meal together, bake a batch of cookies; play a board game; or play cards. If you don’t have children, call your parents; that aunt or uncle you have not spoken to in a while; or someone who you will make their day, by hearing your voice. Invest in real characters in your life, not characters in a television drama
Get going. Laziness and procrastination are traits difficult to overcome. Make a schedule for yourself, giving the appropriate time to accomplish everything, on the list. Reward yourself when each item is completed (especially the ones you want to put off). For example: I will work two hours on my research paper and then I will watch 30 minutes of tv or scroll on FB. Again, it may be the company that you keep. If you are around go-getters or movers and shakers, you may not have time to put things off., trying to keep up with them. And, if you are performing daily exercise and investing into your hobby, your laziness may lift, and your procrastination may be put on hold.
If you spend time and money getting tune ups for your vehicle, take time and money and invest into your self-tune, for life. Remember, you are your best investment, invest in yourself.
The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Ruth 2:12 (KJV).
